Help gen eff win $50,000 through the Pepsi Refresh Project!

I hope 2011 finds you and yours well!  A special request came in from a member of our Relay community to alert you all to an opportunity to honor the memory and legacy of Jeffrey Newbauer.  Jeffrey needs no introduction to many of you, but for those of you who weren’t privileged to have known him, he was a young native of Twinsburg who was taken from his family and friends in 2006 at age 22 by a rare cancer.  Jeffrey was a VERY active member of our Relay and raised many thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.

gen eff is the legacy of Jeffrey. Before Jeffrey died, he did everything he could to help teens and twenty-somethings understand that they, too, are at risk. He raised awareness for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer research and funding-and he did it with amazing optimism and a real desire to help others. gen eff was created by Jeffrey’s friends and family to carry on the work he started, and to make sure what happened to him never happens again.

This month gen eff has made it as a finalist in the Pepsi Refresh Project where Pepsi is awarding cash grants to groups and organizations that are making a difference.  How can YOU help??  Vote for gen eff!!

______________________________________________________________________________________

Who is gen eff?

Created by Jeffrey Newbauer, who was misdiagnosed and died of cancer at 22,

gen eff empowers teens to get involved in their own health. gen eff educates teens

about disease risk and early detection by taking complex health messages and

translating them to a “voice” that teens will listen to. The VOICES of gen eff is a

group of teens dedicated to raising awareness as Jeff intended. VOICES will be

able to make an impact on how this and future generations will take charge and be

their own health advocates!

How can you help?

gen eff has made it as a finalist in the Pepsi Refresh Project where Pepsi is

awarding cash grants to groups and organizations that are making a difference.

But qualifying is just the beginning – now the real work begins…

And that’s where YOU come in!

WE NEED YOU TO VOTE EVERY DAY IN JANUARY!!

And it’s as easy as 1 – 2 – 3!

Which is exactly how many times YOU can support us EACH day of January!

1. If you are on Facebook, just use the Pepsi Refresh App (available at

www.refresheverything.com

) – and then voting is just one easy click each day

when you come on to check your Facebook page! And while you’re out there, be

sure to become a fan of gen eff at

www.facebook.com/geneff.org

2. Go to

www.refresheverything.com

and cast a vote directly (search gen eff and

you’ll find us!)

3. Text 105456 to 73774

Then pass the word to friends, family, coworkers and

keep reminding them all month long to vote every day!!

YOU can make a difference…Jeffrey did.

Help us continue his mission.

Next Meeting will be at El Campisino on Febuary 21st t 6:30. All residents are welcome to attend.
